Edu4PlastiC Promotes Environmental Education and Cooperation in Uzbekistan

During EcoEXPO Central Asia and GEF Days in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the Edu4PlastiC project was presented and discussed with representatives from the National Center for Environmental Monitoring, Green University, Samarkand State University, and Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University. The discussions focused on strengthening environmental education, innovation, and sustainable development across Central Asia.

Bringing together educators, researchers, policymakers, students, and industry representatives, participants explored collaborative approaches to tackling plastic pollution through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and practical solutions. Key topics included circular economy principles, climate action, and sustainable urban development.

A central element of the discussions was the EDU4PlastiCircular Digital Library, which offers open digital learning resources designed to support higher education institutions and environmental professionals while fostering regional and international cooperation.

As participants emphasized, “Protecting the environment begins with protecting ourselves—reducing plastic pollution safeguards our ecosystems, our communities, and our health.” The event reinforced the importance of international partnerships in building the knowledge and skills needed to address today’s environmental challenges.
