Čista obala 2026: Together for a Cleaner Coast

On 19 September 2026, volunteers will gather along the Slovenian coast for Čista obala, part of the global International Coastal Cleanup® movement.

Since 1986, millions of volunteers worldwide have collected and documented coastal waste. Their work helps remove pollution and provides valuable information about the waste entering our waters.

Plastic is one of the most persistent threats to aquatic ecosystems. Larger items gradually break down into microplastics, which can spread through water, accumulate in sediments and affect aquatic organisms.

Within EDU4PlastiCircular, we emphasise the importance of education and awareness in preventing plastic pollution at its source. Cleanup events such as Čista obala show how collective action can support cleaner coastlines and a healthier environment.

Everyone is invited to participate—individually or with friends, family or colleagues. Every piece of waste removed counts.
