University of Insubria Issues Press Release on EDU4PlastiCircular Project

The University of Insubria prepared the first Press Release of the EDU4PlastiCircular project, an innovative initiative focused on transforming attitudes and behaviors towards plastic use through education. The project, known as Education for Plastic in a Circular and Climate Neutral Economy – Preventing Waste Ending Up into the Environment, unites a consortium of partners dedicated to promoting circular economy principles and eco-responsible citizenship.

Led by the Polytechnic University of Timisoara and coordinated by Professor Anca Draghici, the project includes collaborations with the University of Insubria, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, the Transilvania University of Brasov, Dermol svetovanje d.o.o., and the Faculty of Environmental Protection in Slovenia. Professor Elena Cristina Rada of Insubria serves as the local coordinator.

Professor Rada highlights the significant environmental challenges posed by plastic, noting its slow degradation and harmful impact on soil, water, and climate. The EDU4PlastiCircular project, funded by the European Union with a budget of 400,000 euros, launched on November 1, 2023, and will run until October 31, 2026. It aims to provide continuous learning opportunities for educators and industry professionals across the EU, fostering green skills and practices.

The project includes five work packages focused on developing training methods, digital content, and an e-learning platform. It aims to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices, involving at least 200 participants.

EDU4PlastiCircular exemplifies the power of cross-sector collaboration, involving education institutions, NGOs, businesses, policymakers, and the broader community in tackling plastic waste and promoting a sustainable future.
