EDU4PlastiCircular Team Engages with Environmental Engineering Students at the University of Insubria

The EDU4PlastiCircular project continues to expand its outreach, engaging students and educators in meaningful discussions about plastic pollution, circular economy, and sustainability. Recently, the project team worked with the Department of Science and High Technology (DISTA) at the University of Insubria, where they held an insightful session with students from the second year of the Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering.

Bringing Circular Economy to the Classroom

As part of the Ecology and Sustainability course, this session provided an excellent opportunity to introduce students to the EDU4PlastiCircular initiative, fostering discussions on:

The environmental impact of plastic pollution and the role of circular economy solutions.
How future engineers can contribute to reducing plastic waste through innovative design and sustainable practices.
The importance of education and interdisciplinary collaboration in tackling environmental challenges.

The session was highly interactive, allowing students to share their perspectives, ask questions, and explore potential solutions for integrating sustainability into their future careers.

Why This Matters

Engaging Future Leaders – Environmental engineering students will play a key role in developing sustainable solutions for plastic waste management. Educating them about circular economy principles is essential for fostering responsible innovation.

Bridging Academia and Real-World Challenges – By discussing practical applications of EDU4PlastiCircular’s research, students gained valuable insights into how academic knowledge can translate into impactful environmental solutions.

Encouraging Active Participation – Events like this motivate students to take an active role in sustainability, whether through research, policy development, or industry innovations.
