The International Conference on Technologies and Materials for Renewable Energy, Environment, and Sustainability (TMREES25), held from February 10-13, 2025, in Casablanca, Morocco, brought together experts from around the world to discuss innovations in sustainability and environmental protection.
This high-level event provided an excellent platform to disseminate the EDU4PlastiCircular project, fostering discussions on how higher education institutions (HEIs) can integrate circular economy principles into their curricula.
Bringing Circular Economy to the Academic Community
The EDU4PlastiCircular project was actively presented and discussed among participants, highlighting its role in equipping students, educators, and professionals with the knowledge and skills to tackle plastic waste issues. Engaging discussions between colleagues at TMREES25 helped explore:
The impact of plastic pollution on sustainability efforts and the role of HEIs in addressing this challenge.
How universities can integrate green skills and circular economy principles into engineering and environmental studies.
The importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing education for sustainability.
Why This Engagement Matters
As plastic pollution and environmental degradation continue to pose serious global challenges, higher education institutions play a critical role in shaping future solutions. The exchange of ideas at TMREES25 reinforced the need for more academic programs that emphasize plastic circularity, responsible consumption, and innovative waste management solutions.
Looking Ahead
The EDU4PlastiCircular project will continue to expand its outreach, ensuring that sustainability becomes a key component of educational programs in HEIs. Events like TMREES25 provide essential opportunities for fostering new collaborations, exchanging best practices, and driving impactful change in education and industry.
A big thank you to all the colleagues who contributed to the meaningful discussions on sustainability and circular economy in higher education!
